Scholarships are a great way to help aspiring students in financial need to get to earn the degree that they want. The state of Oklahoma gives access to many scholarships and grants which help students in covering the tuition fee and to choose a degree college or university in their home state.  Overseen by the State Regents for Higher Education, Oklahoma State University System offers approximately two dozen state colleges to choose from for its students.

Regional University Baccalaureate Scholarship – Awarded up to $3000, the students applying to the Regional University Baccalaureate Scholarship are required to not only be academically high achievers, but are also required to maintain a GPA of 3.5 throughout the program they have chosen for their degree. The student should also be a semifinalist of the National Merit Award and score a minimum of 30 in the ACT. The deadline for this scholarship varies according to the university. High school students are not considered for the scholarship. A student should also have opted for a full time degree program in the college or university of Oklahoma.

The Academic Scholars Program – The Academic Scholars Program, as the name suggests, is for students who have been meritoriously high in the academic field. The student must be designated as a National Merit Scholar or finalist. The awarded fee can vary from $1800 to $2800 for the shortlisted candidates. Students interested for the scholarship are required to register through the State Regents.

The Foster Care Tuition Waiver – This scholarship is applicable for students who want to pursue a full time degree course from a university or college in Oklahoma. The eligibility criterion for the scholarship is to have served in the State Foster Care System for a specified period of time.

Oklahoma Grants for College

Future Teachers Scholarship – The Future Teachers Scholarship is for those high school graduates who agree to teach in the shortage areas of the State of Oklahoma, after the course of their graduation. The student must apply to major in Education. The Scholarship provides the student with an amount of $500 to $1500. The prime factors of choosing the right candidate for the scholarship also requires having a percentile of 85 in ACT or a similar test. However, the selection of the right candidate is also based on their academic performance, regardless of their willingness of teaching.

William P. Willis Scholarship – Available to citizens of the United States of America, the William P. Willis Scholarship is awarded to students who have agreed to do a full time program in a college or university of the State of Oklahoma. The Student is awarded an amount of $2000 to $3000. High School students are not applicable for this scholarship.

Student loans are also a great way to fund your education if you cannot get awarded a scholarship or grant. Although you will need to repay all the money you borrow with interest, the interest rate on these loans are very low and thus an attractive and viable option for many students.
