Progress Energy Scholarship Programs: The total scholarship amount is $15,000 divided between students who attend community colleges after meeting its qualifying criteria.
Development Fund Scholarship: Ranging from $500-$2,500, there awards are given to community scholars and students of any virtual or state university.

- Robert Byrd Honors Program: The State of North Carolina is part of this national scholarship program and the candidate must have a SAT score of 900 along with a recommendation from his high school. The scholarship amount is $1,500 per year. Around 160 resident of the state are given this scholarship.
- Undergraduate Criminal Justice Scholarships: This is a merit-based scholarship awarded to ten students majoring in the subject of criminal justice. Initiated by the Sheriff’s Association of North Carolina, the scholarship amount is $2,000 per year and is recognized by only ten schools in North Carolina State.
- Hispanic College Fund: Meant solely for the state’s Spanish population to pursue higher studies, this fund gives out $500– $2,000 every year provided the candidate maintains a 2.5 GPA.
- Teaching Fellows Scholarship (TFS): The TFS is awarded to those pursuing a career in teaching in a state-run college or university. A GPA of 3.0 is required and scholarships of up to $6,500 per annum a are granted to four hundred candidates. However, this scholarship is limited to providing the shortfall in the overall tuition fee amount if the candidate is already receiving other forms of financial aid.
- Veterans Scholarship: Given to offspring of disabled war veterans or those killed in action, this scholarship covers the whole tuition and board fees of the selected candidate. However, the relationship with the war veteran has to be proved.
