Scholarships in New Mexico
University of New Mexico Regents’ Scholarship: The amount for this New Mexico University sponsored award is $14,568 per year. For eligibility the student must have a 3.9 GPA, 31 ACT, 1380 SAT or a class valedictorian. The scholarship is open to freshmen, sophomore, and college junior or senior.
New Mexico Lottery Success Scholarships: The scholarship helps New Mexico residents by providing the entire tuition for eight consecutive semesters. The student must be a graduate from a New Mexico public high school, or private high schools recognized by the Public Education Department or obtain a New Mexico GED. A 2.5 GPA is to be obtained and maintained. The student must also enroll full-time at an eligible New Mexico college or university.
Presidential Scholarship: This scholarship offered by University of New Mexico requires the student to apply during the senior year in high school. The student is required to graduate from a New Mexico High School with 3.75 GPA and 25 on the ACT or 1140 on SAT in addition to extracurricular participation. The amount of scholarship is $7,245 per year and renewable for four years.
New Mexico Scholars Program: High school students residing in New Mexico and wanting to attend a public post-secondary institution or the two private colleges; St. John’s College and College of the Southwest are eligible for this scholarship. The student must graduate from a New Mexico high school in the top 5% or score 25 on ACT. And enroll full-time and attend eligible institute by the end of 21st birthday. Also the family income must not be more than $30,000 per year.

- Sussman-Miller Educational Assistance Award: Financial aid is given to Mexico residents for minimum $500 and a maximum of $3,000 or 20% of the student’s total budget, whichever is less. The student must be graduating from a recognized public or private school and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school academic grade-bearing subjects. Acceptance by a full-time post-secondary, accredited, non-profit or public educational institution is a must. The student must be a federal financial aid recipient.
- New Mexico Legislative Endowment Scholarships: The scholarship provides for undergraduate students attending public post-secondary institutions in New Mexico. The amount of the award is a maximum of $2,500 for four-year schools, and $1,000 for two-year schools.
New Mexico Grants for College & University
New Mexico College Affordability Grant: Students who do not qualify for other state scholarships can apply for this grant. Maximum award is $1,000 per semester and the student can receive the same for eight consecutive semesters. To be eligible the student must be a New Mexico resident, undergraduate and attend a New Mexico public college university. Enrollment should be for at least half time (6 credit hours). Student must have a financial need as determined by Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
