Scholarships in Nevada
Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship: It is the most popular scholarship in Nevada, and is funded by the state treasurer. The student has to be a resident of Nevada for the last two years of high school with a 3.25 GPA, and must enroll in an approved college for a program that allows obtaining an associate degree, a baccalaureate degree or a pre-baccalaureate certificate. Student should have already decided on the major course of study to be pursued. Amount of scholarship depends on whether you are studying at a community or state college but is capped at $10,000 for the entire undergraduate course. There is no specific application process involved. The names of eligible students are sent by the school officials to the State Treasurer’s office, the recipients are accordingly chosen.
Nevada Women’s Fund Scholarship: Women in Northern Nevada are eligible for this scholarship. Graduate and under-graduate students as well as those in a program at vocational school can apply. This scholarship does not encourage applications from high school seniors as they have access to other scholarships. However, if the applicant is in extraordinary or challenging circumstances then the application will be considered. Eligible students must be enrolled in a recognized two or four year degree program and take a minimum of 6-8 credits per semester. The amount of scholarship ranges from $500 to $5,000, if the amount exceeds $2,000 the same is split and disbursed in August and January.

- Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program: Forty to sixty students who are residents of Nevada and in an undergraduate program are eligible to receive scholarship of $1,500. The student must show academic achievement in high school and promise in future studies at an undergraduate institution.
- University of Nevada, Reno: Various university scholarships are offered and the amount awarded is according to an academic index based upon cumulative high school GPA and ACT, SAT or college entrance examination scores.
- The Presidential Scholarship Level awards $5,000 for each year to students having 3.50 cumulative GPA and a score of 31 on ACT or 1380 on SAT.
- Silver and Blue Level awards $2,500 per year to students having an index of 90 (or a transfer GPA of 4.00 to 3.75) and who do not qualify for the Presidential Level.
- Nevada Scholars Level gives $1,500 for the academic year requiring an index of 89-80 (or transfer GPA of 3.74 to 3.30).
- Pack Pride Level awards $1,000 for an index of 79-73.
- Entering freshmen should have 3.00 cumulative un-weighted high school GPA and transfer student a 3.30 cumulative transfer GPA.
Nevada Grants for Colleges & Universities
Nevada State College System Grants and Scholarships: Nevada State College offers a number of grants. Nevada State Access Grant, Nevada Grant-In-Aid and NSC Grant (NSCG) are awarded to financial needy students who are Nevada residents. Whereas NSC Support Grant (NSSG) are awarded to students their first or second baccalaureate degree.
