American Legion – Insurance Trust Scholarships: The American Legion, Department of Minnesota grants scholarships to students who want to pursue higher education at any educational institute in the state. Students applying in a state that has a reciprocal arrangement with Minnesota are also eligible. Applicants must be Minnesota residents, and must themselves be veterans, or their parent or grandparent must be veterans. The selection processes also considers the need of the applicants, drive to complete education and pursue a career. The scholarship is provided for only a year, up to a maximum of $500.
Minnesota Academic Excellence Scholarship: The scholarship is for students who have shown exceptional talent and achievements in one of the eligible subjects; English, Math, Science, Social Science, Fine Arts, Creative Writing, or foreign language. Applicants must be high school graduates, and should be enrolled on a full-time basis at a nonsectarian degree course at the University of Minnesota, or a state university, or also a private institution in Minnesota. The award amount is $6,500 per year, and can be renewed for a further three years.

- Bill Peterson Scholarship: This scholarship can be availed by the participating local’s member, their spouses and their children. High school and college students as well as adults are eligible. The applicant must however be already enrolled in a post secondary educational institution. Amount of scholarship is $1,000.
- Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program: Students who are of at least a quarter of American Indian ancestry are eligible for the scholarship. Additionally the applicants must be residents of Minnesota, should exhibit financial requirement and qualify for a State Grant or even a Pell Grant. Students should have an admission to an accredited institution in Minnesota. Undergraduate students enrolled for three-fourths time can receive up to $4,000 per year. And graduate students enrolled for half time can get a maximum of $6,000 per year.
- Minnesota Alliss Opportunity Grant: An adult who has passed from high school seven years back, and is without a bachelor’s degree, but wishes to resume their education, can apply for this grant. The grant allows the student to take up a single course at a community college.
Minnesota Grants for College
Minnesota State Grant Program: The grant is for students from low and medium income backgrounds. Applicants must be residents of Minnesota, and already graduated from secondary school, and admitted at one of the 130 recognized schools in the state, as undergraduates. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed. The amount of the award depends upon the course undertaken.
