The State of Maryland offers a variety of scholarships with different eligibility criterion other than just being a citizen of Maryland.  These criterions vary with the kind of scholarship plan opted by a student who is seeking financial help.

Maryland Graduate and Professional School Scholarship -A student who applies for this grant or scholarship must be a Maryland resident and exhibit financial need. He/she should be enrolled as a degree seeking student in part time or full time in professional programs like law, medicine, pharmacy, social work, dentistry, etc. The minimum award is $1000 per year and the maximum award is $5000 per year. As the funds are limited and so not all the eligible students are awarded and to decide amongst the eligible student’s ranks are decided on the basis of financial needs of the students as determined from FAFSA i.e. Free Application For Federal Student Aid.

Edward T Conroy Memorial Scholarship Program – To get the benefits of this scholarship program a student must be a resident of Maryland with an exception of a family member been a part of United States Armed Forces who expired in the course of their military service. Also, a daughter or a son of a surviving victim of September 11, 2001 terrorist attack at World Trade Centre, New York is eligible. He/she must enrol at a 2-year or 4-year Maryland college university as a full time or part time, degree seeking undergraduate or graduate student or attend a private career school.

  • ESA Marsh Scholarship Program – This program is the longest running scholarship program in US surfing community, it awards approximately $8000 annually in financial aid to ESA surfers. The main objective of this program is to offer financial help to deserving ESA student surfers who wish to persuade their education beyond secondary school level. These grants are awarded to ESA members on the basis of US citizenship and academics, rather than athletic ability. To avail the benefits of this program the applicant must be an existing member of Eastern Surfing Association (ESA).
  • Bridgewater College State Incentive Grant – It is a renewable grant awarded to incoming freshmen and transfers who all reside in New Jersey, Florida, Maryland, New York, Delaware and West Virginia.
  • The Mary Rubin & Benjamin M. Rubin Scholarship – These scholarships are availed towards tuition for women who are permanent residents of state of Maryland and attend a recognized US University or college have a GPA of 3.0 or above. Scholarships awards range from $500 to $2500 per year for tuition only. These grants are based on a combination of factors that include academic achievement, financial need and extracurricular activities.
