Stable academic achievement along with work experience or accomplishments in some art adds to the consideration. Awards range from $500 to $10,000 and renewable till eight semesters. Students note that the scholarship is only for the University of Maine.
Creating Maine’s Future Presidential Scholarships: This scholarship is one of the most distinguished in the University of Southern Maine. $5,000 is awarded each year for four years to high school students of Maine who enroll full-time at the Southern Maine University. Selection also depends upon academic achievement and remarkable personal qualities.
The Barking Foundation Scholarship: If you have been residing in Maine for the past four years and pursuing a degree in an undergraduate institution within Maine or even outside, then you can apply for this scholarship. Generally, fifty grants of $3,000 each are awarded per year. Financial requirements and academics are considered and the grant is paid directly to the institution that the student has enrolled in.

- Guy P. Gannett Scholarship Fund: Students interested in a journalism career can take advantage of this scholarship which funds the students majoring in journalism or related fields.
