Georgia HOPE Scholarship: The candidate must be from a high school recognized by Hope and must have a 3.0 GPA.  Should the high school be Hope ineligible, the candidate must be in the 85th percentile or even higher in terms of his scores in the Scholastic Aptitude Test or ACT tests. Hope scholars get different grants depending on the college they attend. Full time students attending private college get $2,000 for one semester or $1,333 every quarter. Part-time students get half the amount.

American Red Cross Blood Stock Scholarship: This is a unique scholarship which can be got by working with the American Red Cross. All you need to do is to collect blood during summer and winter to qualify for it. If you successfully collect 35 blood units, you stand to qualify for a $1000 scholarship. Collection of 50 units enables you for the $2000 scholarship and it will be paid directly to the college or university which you will be attending.

  • Atlanta OU Club Scholarship: This is given out by the Atlanta OU Club for one year to any freshman of the University of Oklahoma. He has to graduate from a Georgia high school and stands to win $1,000 if selected. Additionally, $1,000 will be given by the University of Oklahoma for tuition fees. Requirements include submission of a transcript from the high school, test scores, and a 1-2 page statement on why he should be considered eligible.
  • Barbizon Acting & Modeling Scholarship: A sum of up to $ 1, 00,000 is given to an acting or modeling aspirant for a four-year course to any college of his/her choice. This is given yearly and eligibility requirements include residency of Georgia. The candidate must evince a genuine interest in acting or modeling.

Georgia Grants for College & Universities

Grants are also a great way to help pay for your education. Below is one such grant that is worth applying for.

  • Georgia HOPE Grant: This is different from the Hope Scholarship and is given to residents of Georgia only. They have to attend a Georgia-based technical or public university to get a diploma. This is regardless of the date for graduating from high school or the candidate’s GPA. The program must have the approval of the Department of Technical and Adult Education in Georgia.  Full tuition fees and a book allowance with a limit of $300 for every academic year is provided.
