Alaska Scholar Program: The Scholar Program is sponsored by the University of Alaska. This is a purely merit-based scholarship. An eligible student will be designated by the qualified high school on the basis of the individual’s academic position at the end of junior year. Generally the top 10% of the students are considered. Award amount per semester is $1,375 for up to eight semesters spread over five years. To receive the award the student must enroll into a degree or certificate program of the University of Alaska.
AlaskAdvantage Grant: This is a popular financial need-based grant for students who are enrolled for an undergraduate degree or vocational program at a qualifying institute in Alaska. Additionally applicant must have a high school diploma or GED and have unmet financial requirement of minimum $500. Grant amount varies between $500 and $3,000 per year. Applicants must fill in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year.

- Alaska Performance Scholarship: The high school class of 2011 are the first eligible students for this scholarship. Qualification requires the student to undertake a rigorous curriculum, perform well in career-readiness college exam and have 2.5 GPA. The awards are offered at three levels and can be utilized for an approved career or technical education program or at any regionally accredited college or university, in Alaska. Completion of the FAFSA is a must.
- Alaska U.S. Senate Youth Program: The purpose of this program is to increase understanding of America’s political process and encourage careers in public service. Applicant must be living in Alaska and be attending high school as a junior or senior. It is required that the applicant be residing in the US with parents or guardians being in Alaska. Two chosen students from Alaska will meet with other students in Washington for a week-long program. The two students will also receive $5,000 each as an undergraduate scholarship for a university or college of their choice.
Alaska Grants for College & University
Alaska Academic Competitiveness Grant: The grant awards $750 and $1,300 for the first and second year of undergraduate study respectively. The full-time student must complete the FAFSA and be eligible for the Pell Grant. Also the student should have successfully completed a high school program, recognized by the Secretary of Education. GPA of 3.00 is required to receive the award in the second year too.
