How to find grants for beauty schools?
The National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) recognizes more than 1,000 beauty schools in the US. Once you pick the school you want to study in, you will be required to fill up a certain document known as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. The completed form is required to be filled and submitted with the Government.
Government Grants for Beauty School
These finance based schemes under the government helps students with financially weak background.
- Federal Pell Grant: Under this scheme, the government pays for the institute on behalf of the student. This grant covers the tuition fees and may also cover other education related expenses.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant: This is for students with exceptional need for finances.
- Federal Work Study: Students who awarded this grant are required to earn their funding by working part time at the school. The number of hours of work is in accordance with the funding they have been granted.
- Access to Cosmetology Education (ACE): This aid is funded by the American Association of Cosmetology Schools, and they award four grants annually worth $1,000 each, to adults in the field of cosmetology.
- Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation: Each year, this foundation supports women with very low annual income, by providing them a grant of $2000 each.
- Soroptomist Women’s Opportunity: It supports women in cosmetology who are the sole bread earners for their families.
Many other such private foundations grant funds to financially weak students, or academically well performing students and many other categories. A lot of financial incentives exist for students to pursue cosmetology. Don’t let financial constraint be the reason for not becoming a beautician.
